The Kalahari, the large semi-arid sandy savannah area in Southern Africa expanding over 900,000 square kilometres (350,000 square miles), covers much of Botswana and parts of Namibia and South Africa.
Hunting in the Kalahari takes place in South Africa on large, privately owned land but also in National Parks. As semi-desert, with huge tracts of excellent grazing after good rains, the Kalahari supports more animals and plants than a true desert, such as the Namibian Desert to the west.
The Kalahari sustains a large variety of game, despite its semi-arid climate. Hunting in the Kalahari gives hunters the opportunity to hunt gemsbuck, springbuck, blue wildebeest, Burchell's zebra, kudu and red hartebeest, which are the most popular animals in this year.
When hunting in the Kalahari, activities for non-hunters are unfortunately very scant. Non-hunters can, however, relax at the tranquil lodge or accompany hunters into the field to experience the thrilling hunt.
